Nine years ago, Adam Leitman Bailey founded the Raymond ‘Hap’ Harrison scholarship in honor of his high school track coach Raymond Hap Harrison, who inspired him greatly. The scholarship is awarded annually to recent High School graduates who plan to attend college in the Fall.
Chabely Jorge interned at Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C. during her senior year at Millennium High School, working with many paralegals and attorneys throughout the office. Ms. Jorge graduated at the top of her class and was chosen to be the graduation speaker at her high school. After receiving the award, Ms. Jorge said, “I’m very honored and excited to have received this from Adam.” Ms. Jorge is headed to Columbia on a full scholarship in July to start to continue her academic career studying Political Science.
SCHOLARSHIP LUNCHEON 2017
2017 Raymond “Hap” Harrison Scholars Luncheon
Scholarship recipients, old and new, joined Adam Leitman Bailey at the new firm offices on Thursday, July 27th, 2017 for the annual Scholars Luncheon. Taking in the new scenery (for all but our current high school interns, it was their first visit to the Battery Park space), everyone reflected upon their time at the firm, thanking Adam for the opportunities and experiences it provided.
Each year, Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C., in conjunction with Building Foundations and Dreams, sits down with these inspiring students (from the most recent university graduates to rising college freshmen) to honor their hard work and celebrate their outstanding achievements, both inside and out of the classroom. At the annual luncheon, the recipients have the chance to talk one-on-one with Mr. Bailey, network with one another, and provide the firm with their latest updates – new jobs, awards received in the previous semester, and other exciting adventures in their personal and professional lives. This year was particularly special, as it marked the tenth year of the scholarship’s existence.
SCHOLARSHIP LUNCHEON 2016
2016 Raymond “Hap” Harrison Scholars Luncheon
These luncheons give the students time to talk with Mr. Bailey, seek advice from him and catch up. This year, there was a special guest via Skype, Raymond Harrison himself spoke to the group, sharing words of wisdom. Raymond Harrison was a track coach at New Milford High School and was a mentor to Adam Leitman Bailey, and in turn Mr. Bailey named the scholarship after him. Mr. Harrison shared how proud he is of the students and of Adam Leitman Bailey for his continued generosity in providing the scholarship year after year.
Throughout the lunch, the students reflected on their time with the firm and discussed what being a scholarship winner means to them. Each and every one of them would not be where they were today without both the financial support and mentorship given to them by Adam Leitman Bailey. The scholarship program has grown every year since it’s creation in 2008.
“I just want to thank everyone at ALB and Adam especially for, not only the scholarship, but for all the experience I’ve had. When I interned here last summer, I met some of the greatest people in one of the greatest offices and I’ll always be thankful for that experience.”
