After receiving their copy of Home through the Home Book Project, the Birch Family Services in Springfield Gardens, Queens decided to invite the author, Adam Leitman Bailey, to visit and read his book to the students in their early childhood center program. This program offers an educational environment to a wide range of children with speech impairments, learning disabilities, emotional behavioral difficulties, autism, and mental handicaps, as well as typically developing children. Mr. Bailey gave the students important life lessons, taught them about the main character’s journey, and asked them questions about their ideal home.

The Home Book Project mailed the book out to various schools, libraries, and non-profit organizations throughout the New York City area and across the country. Ultimately, the project aims to give children the confidence to be proud of where they come from no matter the circumstances.
